Project Details

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) has led to mental health gains in recipients and their children. The summer of 2015 ushered in a period of uncertainty over the future of DACA when presidential candidate Trump announced his intention to rescind DACA if elected. ICH’s Director of Research Leah Zallman and Epidemiologist Lynsie Ranker are mentoring former Harvard Medical School student Alex Bonilla on this project. This study examines National Health Interview Survey data to examine the impacts of uncertainty over the program on mental health outcomes among a national sample of DACA eligible adults and their children. Preliminary findings were presented at the 2020 Academy Research Meeting.
