Project Details

The Leah Zallman Center for Immigrant Health Research (LZC) at the Institute for Community Health is partnering with the Massachusetts Immigrant & Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) to provide evaluation and research technical assistance (TA) services for a new pilot program, Immigrant Assistance Services (IAS). In May 2023, MIRA received a $1.75 million grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to provide targeted legal and case management support to newly arrived immigrants residing in Massachusetts’ emergency assistance (EA) shelters. LZC is working with MIRA to learn from this pilot program and begin to operationalize the role of legal assistance in immigrant well-being through key short and long term metrics. Our goals are to establish accurate and low-impact data collection and analysis processes that MIRA and partners could utilize as they grow this and other related initiatives.
