Patricia Ferrao, PhD, MPH

Patricia Ferrao (she/her/hers) is an Epidemiology Assistant at the Institute for Community Health. At ICH, she is responsible for supporting the Epidemiology team in activities such as evaluation, research, and planning and assessment projects. Patricia is passionate about exploring new ways to improve people’s lives through evidence-based practices. Prior to coming to ICH, she worked for over a decade in clinical and academic settings as a biomedical researcher, having published several articles in peer-reviewed journals. Patricia has also experience working with social work and coordination of health programs in non-profit organizations aimed at serving vulnerable populations, such as The Family Van (Harvard Medical School) and Cambridge Health Alliance.

Patricia is a native of Brazil and holds a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from FIOCRUZ. Currently, she is completing her MPH at BU School of Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology and Biostatistics. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, listening to music, taking care of her plants, and relaxing on the sofa with her cat Nina.
