Summer 2023 Interns

Anika Kumar, PhD '26
Anika Kumar (she/her/hers) is a PhD student at the Heller School of Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. With a degree in community health and psychology from Tufts University and subsequent research experience in academic medical centers around the Greater Boston area, Anika is eager to leverage her understanding of mixed–methods research to advance equitable healthcare delivery and policymaking. Anika’s research interests focus on the prioritization of immigrant health, particularly through access and quality of culturally and linguistically salient mental health and substance use treatments.

Anthony Rumbos-Perez, BA '26
Anthony Rumbos–Perez (he/him/él) is an undergraduate at Swarthmore College,
pursuing majors in Political Sociology and Statistics. Anthony is a student intern at the
Intercultural Center at Swarthmore, where he helps to support programming to build
multicultural community and inclusion on the school’s campus. He was born and raised
in Southern California. In his spare time, Anthony can be found reading or watching
science fiction, exploring cities like Philadelphia, and practicing capoeira.

Vilma Uribe, PhD '26
Vilma Uribe (she/her/ella) is a PhD student at Brandeis University, researching
economic and racial equity for survivors of domestic violence and people of color. She
has over a decade of experience working with academic, non–profit, and medical
institutions to implement anti–violence community–based programs. Vilma uses research
and evaluation to address systemic and legislative barriers that prevent people from
achieving economic security and expanding their collective power.
